WUHAN, China, May 16 () -- Many Chinese Olympic champions will feature the 2010 National Gymnastics Championship to be kicked off in Xiantao city, a cradle of the gymnastics champions, in central China's Hubei province on May 24. The eight-day meet has attracted 383 gymnasts from 23 Chinese teams, including mosts of athletes from the national team, Xiantao Municipal Government said. Among the Olympic champions attending are Chen Yibing, Teng Haibin, He Kexin, Deng Linlin, Jiang Yuyuan, Li Shanshan and Yang Yilin. The championship will be sanctioned by the General Administration of Sport of China. All the preparation work has been ready as of Sunday, according to the local government.
MOSCOW, April 20 () -- At least one person was killed and three others were injured when a huge fire engulfed 65 houses and buildings in Russia's Far East, Emergency Situations Ministry said Friday."As a result, one resident in the village found dead, another was hospitalized with burns and two more were being treated from heart problems," a local emergency situations department spokesman was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.Furthermore, 65 houses and buildings have been destroyed by fire in the town of Tygda in the northeastern Russian region of Amur.According to preliminary investigation, grass burning and stormy wind have caused the fire.Earlier it was reported that the huge fire spread to at least 75 houses and buildings."The situation has stabilized by now. The fire has stopped spreading," head of the ministry's crisis center Vladimir Stepanov told reporters, adding that homeless people would be temporarily accommodated at a school and a rehabilitation center with provided food and other necessities.Deputy Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Chupriyan would also fly to the Amur region, according to Stepanov.
